SCHULTZ BINDERY UPGRADES MECHANICAL BINDING EQUIPMENT
Detroit Area Bindery Increases Overall Capacity, Quality with Recent Moves
DETROIT, MI – Schultz Bindery, a post press services provider located here, has added several pieces of mechanical binding equipment in recent months in response to customer demands. The additions enable the post press services company to more accurately and effectively produce spiral wire, plastic coil and Wire-O binding products.
|Plastic coil binding, used to produce the above books, is extremely popular for its durability and layflat characteristics.
The key machines in the bindery’s recent acquisitions are three punching machines and two mechanical binding closure tools. A pair of automatic machines and one manual punching machine give Schultz the ability to punch holes in book spines in every shape, pattern and pitch commonly required for mechanical binding products.
“Spines as thick as 1 1/8” are not a problem for our mechanical binding capabilities,” said Schultz Bindery President Tom Schultz.
The company’s new GBC binding system is a high-speed semi-automatic system that is able to perform skip binding and hanger insertion operations. The result, according to the company president, is more options for Schultz customers.
“Our customers have been asking for increased mechanical binding capability, particularly for Wire-O products,” said Schultz. “Wire-O books lay flat, have no exposed wire ends and no misaligned pages when opened. Our improved capabilities give our customers many more solutions for their books.”
